NOTE: You must register \(before the event\) ASAP to get a slot. This course is not offered often and fills up quickly. Also, you must take level 1 before level 2, and 2 before 3. WNYMBA will reimburse 50% of the course cost to members who complete the course with proof of a certificate. We appreciate all of the volunteers who legally remove blowdowns and perform chainsaw-related duties with permission from the land managers through the WNYMBA executive board. The mandatory personal protective equipment \(PPE\) includes a helmet \(hard hat\), eye protection, hearing protection, and safety chaps. Helmet: Must be ANSI approved and often integrated with face and hearing protection. Eye/Face Protection: Logger-type mesh screens or safety glasses meeting ANSI standards. Hearing Protection: Required due to high noise levels from chainsaws and machinery. Safety Chaps: Cut-resistant leg protection \(e.g., Kevlar or ballistic nylon\) is essential for chainsaw operators. Chainsaw: Participants must provide their own, ensuring it is in proper working condition. The Game of Logging is recognized nationwide as a leading chainsaw safety and productivity training program. Through hands‑on instruction, students work directly with experienced instructors to learn safe, efficient, and effective chainsaw techniques. Game of Logging Level 3 focuses on techniques for handling difficult trees. Topics covered include limbing, height measurement, segment calculations, wedging techniques and hinge placement.
