The Firefighter Challenge United States National Championship is coming to Erie Sept. 23-26 in Perry Square. Admission for the event is FREE! Firefighters from aross the country will take on a demanding course that includes climbing, hose handling, forcible entry, rescue simulations, and other tasks designed to mirror real life emergency scenarios. ESPN has named this event the "toughest two minutes in sports." Event Schedule: Wednesday Sept. 23: Open practice @ 7 a.m. Thursday Sept. 24: Open practice @ 7 a.m., Tandem Team Category Title Championship @ 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 25: Open practice @ 7 a.m., Relay Category Championship Event Pennsylvania Fire Service Showdown integrated @ 8 a.m., Awards @ 6: 30 p.m. Saturday sept. 26: Open Ceremony @ 8:30 a.m., Individual Category Championship Title Finale @ 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Competitors should consult the event website for eligibility and team-registration requirements.
